An Outtake - Where’s Kate’s “Robot Button”

This video is definitely an outtake but kind of cute nonetheless.  Kate laughed for the first time today along with Ben at lunchtime.  After we were finished eating, I propped her up on the couch and tried to get Ben to make her laugh again.  I asked him to push her “robot button” to get him laughing in hopes that she would too.  The robot game makes a little bit more sense if you read this previous post.  Unfortunately, Kate didn’t utter a peep but Ben’s confusion trying to find her bellybutton is quite funny.

Look Alikes

She's definitely mine!  Myself to the left, Kate to the right, both at around four months:

Kate's New Circle Skirt

So, I’ve always really wanted to learn how to sew (beyond the pillow and boxer shorts I made in grade eight home ec class).  I've always thought it would be nice to be able to make a few simple, cute things for Ben and Kate.  On a whim, I found an online tutorial from one of my favorite blogs, chose some leftover material from a blanket my sister made and braved the fabric shop with two kids in tow.  I chose a circle skirt as my first project.  Could it really be that difficult to cut out a couple of circles and sew them to a piece of elastic?  Well, it was somewhat hard (I should have sewn something with straight lines the first time around), it took a very long time and it certainly isn’t perfect...but Kate looks pretty darn cute in her new skirt.

He Said (On Naptime Hugs)...

Five minutes after putting Ben down for his afternoon nap he was frantically banging on his bedroom door calling, "Mommy!  Mommy!"  I went in to check on him...

Me: "What's wrong Ben?  Aren't you suppose to be sleeping?"

Ben: "I have a big problem!"

Me: "What's your big problem Ben?"

Ben: "I need a hug."

Unpredictable Ben

This morning, I went to the museum/government house to photograph Ben’s Style – Summer 2012.

Ben was uncooperative and Kate and I were running low on patience (I would have cried as hard as she did if it would have been socially acceptable).

So, after a frustrating hour of trying to get Ben to look at the camera, we packed up and went home.  Once Ben and Kate went down for their afternoon naps, I peeked at the images, not expecting much.

Sometimes what you get is even better than what you set out to accomplish.  Today I captured Ben, at two and a half.  Wild, silly, impossible, amazing, unpredictable and beautiful...
