When I think of Ben in his first few months of life, this is how I remember him.  Wide eyed and alert.  Almost as if, as he pieced things together he knew more than he should, an old soul.  It’s somewhat hard to explain, unless you catch him in a moment of utter stillness (which isn’t often) and look deep into his big brown eyes.  I love this photo of Ben.  It was a shot I took before the “real” photo shoot began but it’s by far my favorite. 

Muttart Conservatory

On Wednesday, we met up with a few friends and spent the morning at the Muttart Conservatory.  I was babysitting our next door neighbors little girl so she joined us as well.  It wasn’t very busy so the kids ran around, played eye spy and had a blast.  Everyone had a good nap when we got home...

Monday Morning Bingo Marker Project

As I mentioned a few days ago, I’ve been spending a lot of time on Pinterest lately.  I've pinned lots of fun projects to do with Ben.  I’m always on the lookout for quiet activities he can do at the kitchen table while I cook and clean.  I went to the dollar store yesterday and bought a Bingo Marker so we could do this project.  I printed out all the letters for his name, “Benjamin” and he dabbed "B-E-N-J" this morning.  Ben really enjoyed filling in the circles with ink and we talked about the sound each letter makes as he worked.

Ben's (Second) Canvas Painting - Day Seven

A few weeks ago, Ben started preschool.  In theory, I should have more time now that I'm down to one child five hours a week but we're still trying to adjust to our new schedule (plus I finally broke down and joined Pinterest).  Anyway, Ben added a black and blue blob to his painting over a week ago and I finally found a free moment to post his latest progression.

Vancouver Bound Valentine's Day Card

On Valentine's Day, Ben wanted to send puppy Gus (and Auntie Jenny and Uncle Darren) a valentine card.  He couldn't quite reach the mailbox but he had fun sending it none the less.

Surfer Girl

It absolutely astounds me how quickly babies grow and learn and change.  Six weeks ago, Kate could sit, roll and push herself backwards on her tummy.  Today she can crawl, pull herself up to stand and surf just about anything; couches and chairs, side tables and TV stands, walls and cupboards.  She’s a completely different baby than she was a few short weeks ago.  I can’t wait until she takes her first steps and we have a (very short) little lady chasing after Ben.  And I have a feeling it won’t be long, she’s definitely a little risk taker (which has resulted in a few spectacular falls).
